The session will take the form of an interactive workshop providing a catalyst for people to network and acquire some new ideas on how to build connections particularly across generations.

Ali Burston is well-known in the resources sector for her work in designing and running mentoring programs for both companies and professional organisations.  She is the Program Director of the much-acclaimed Women in Mining mentoring programs run by WIMWA in WA, WIMARQ in Queensland and WIMnet NSW which are supported by sponsorship from a diverse range of mining companies and industry service providers.  Her summary bio is attached.

Dr Ali Burston (B. Psychology, M. Psychology, D. Psychology)
Organisational Psychologist, Metisphere

Dr Burston began her career as an endorsed Organisational Psychologist working on several large mining construction projects in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Ali is the Founder and Director of boutique organisational development firm, Metisphere. Ali has significant experience working with organisations to strategically enhance employee productivity, team development and culture.

In 2011, she created the Women in Mining Mentoring Program that is now run in three Australian states, including New South Wales. In this capacity, Ali has facilitated mentoring partnerships for more than 700 mentees and has formed alliances with over 300 senior industry leaders to produce productive mentoring partnerships. Numerous Women in Resources state and national award winners have been mentees and mentors in a Metisphere-run Women in Mining Mentoring Program.

Dr Burston is the Vice President for The Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology Australia ('SIOPA') and a University Liaison Consultation member with Murdoch University. She has been nominated and won numerous industry, research and professional awards throughout her career.
